Graveside services for Willie James Murphy Sr., 61, of Bainbridge, were held Sept. 3, 2011 at Mitchell Grove Cemetery in Cuthbert, Ga., with Bishop Willie Davis officiating.

Mr. Murphy was born April 21, 1949 to the late Mr. Homer Murphy and Ms. Fannie Kate Middlebrook.

He was preceded in death by both parents and eight siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Gerilene Kelly; sons Charles Edward Murphy, Willie  James Murphy Jr., both of Bainbridge, and Michael Murphy of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Frances Moore and Lottie Davis of Bainbridge, Eloise Wilborn of Rochester, N.Y.; brothers Herman Murphy of Miami, Fla. and Carl Murphy of Bainbridge; and three grandchildren.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
