Gamble makes Chargers roster

Former Bainbridge High School Bearcats and University of Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Darryl Gamble, a rookie free agent with the San Diego Chargers, has  made the team’s final 53-man roster.

As a senior with the Bulldogs in 2010, Gamble, son of Lamar Washington and Tracy Daniels, had 39 tackles, a pass break-up, and 15 quarterback pressures while earning a most improved defensive player award.

He had a team-high nine tackles against Georgia Tech and eight tackles against South Carolina.

Gamble made a strong early impression on head coach Norv Turner and his Chargers staff and continued to build on it.

In his first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 11, against the Seattle Seahawks, Gamble had seven tackles and one quarterback sack.
