The City of Bainbridge is partnering with local law enforcement agencies for a September 11 memorial service to be held on Wednesday, September 14 at 11:30 a.m. in Willis Park.  Bainbridge Public Safety, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur County EMS and Georgia State Patrol have all worked together on the event and invite the public to attend.

The memorial service, while honoring those who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks ten years ago, will also focus on our own local fallen heroes that have passed away in the past ten years.  Mayor Edward Reynolds, Sheriff Wiley Griffin, BSP Chief Investigator Frank Green, Decatur County EMS Director Bill Hogan, Georgia State Patrol Lieutenant Buddy Johnson, BPS Major Walter Landrum, Chaplains Dewitt Philips and Ken Davidson and the BHS Band will all take part in the service.

Those being honored include:  Lottie Authur, Jimmy Bellflower, Willis Biggles, John Boyd, Ray Cook, Pamela Dassdorf, Carl Davis, Robert S. Duncan, Charlotte Elkins, Carl Fallous, Carlton E. “Bud” Gause, Robert Griffin, Phillip Kelly, Charles Moore, Jerome Rentz, Lance Robinson, Steve Singleton, Dan Smith, Wanda Stout, and Melanie Wood.

The memorial service will also serve as September’s Brown Bag in the Park, so be sure to bring your blankets and lunch and enjoy the great fall weather.  This is a great time to honor both our nation and our community as we take time to honor our fallen heroes and say “thank you” for the sacrifices they made to help make our community a better place to live.
