Fifth and sixth graders on the “Panther Team” at Hutto Middle School displayed their entrepreneurial skills at Market Day on Tues., Aug. 30. As part of their economics unit, students were required to create, market, and sell a product that would be in high demand by their peers. Students also created storefronts and were required to keep track of their sales and expenses in order to calculate their profits. These “business owners” used the principles of supply and demand to determine pricing and made adjustments in order to maximize their profits. Great behavior during the first three weeks of school paid off as students were able to spend tickets earned for good behavior on the products up for sale.
