Bainbridge High School Bearcats head football coach Ed Pilcher told the Bainbridge Rotary Club Tuesday that the ability to mold young men into productive players, and ultimately good citizens, is what he likes most about coaching.

“When you get a young man entering the ninth grade, work with hiim and watch him improve from day to day, it is really fulfilling,” Pilcher said.

“We have a great bunch of kids and they come out and work hard at practice every day. I constantly tell them that if they continue to work hard good things will happen.

“We have had between 80 and 85 kids out for practice every day and they have handled the heat well. We give them frequent water breaks.

“Our biggest numbers are in the junior class. We have 33 juniors and a lot of them will be playing.

“Two of our key players are out with injuries. Senior running back Aaron Hall sprained a bone in his knee and could be out for a few more weeks and junior wide receiver and defensive back Cameron McDowell, one of our few players who goes both ways, will be out for some time with a dislocated ankle.

“Probably the two best teams in our Region 1-AAAA this season will be Warner Robins and Northside Warner Robins.”
