7th grade practice under way

More than 25 players greeted Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats coaches for the first day of practice Wednesday at the Centennial Field practice field.

The BMS seventh-grade Bearcats began practice this week in preparation for their Wednesday, Aug. 31, season opener in Thomassville.

The seventh-grade Bearcats are coached by former Bainbridge High School Bearcats players Chip Ariail and Heith Maxwell and Bainbridge High School head basketball coach Rickey McCullough, who coached football at Chipley (Fla.) High School.

They will take on Thomasville’s McIntyre Park Middle School seventh-grade Bulldogs in their season opener Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 5 p.m. at Thomasville’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.

They will take on the Washington Middle School seventh-grade Tigers on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m. at Cairo’s West Thomas Stadium.

Their home opener will be Wednesday, Sept. 21, against McIntyre Park at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field. They will host Washington on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field and conclude their regular season Wednesday, Oct. 12, against Thomas County Central at 5 p.m. at Jackets’ Nest Stadium.
