Lady Cats preparing for season

Coach Eugene Singletary’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team will host the Seminole County High School Lady Indians in a preseason scrimmage game Thursday at 6 p.m. at their campus field.

Their season opener will be Tues., Aug. 9, against the Crisp County High School Lady Cougars at home. The junior varsity Lady Cats and Lady Cougars will play at 4 p.m. and the varsity will play at 5:45 p.m.

Among those providing senior leadership for the Lady Cats this season will be Kristen Bennett, who will pitch, catch and play second base; Diamond Bouie, who will play third base and the outfield; Tiffany Hand, who will play the outfield; and Khadijah Cooper, who will play the outfield.

Other top senior leaders are pitcher and second baseman Avis Jackson, shortstop and outfielder Briana Wade, outfielder Natasha Green and outfielder Jocelyn Beard.

Junior Caitlin Cato, one of the aces of the pitching staff, leads a strong group of junior Lady Cats. She also plays the outfield. Other top juniors are outfielder Alisha Peterson and Morgan Powell, who plays first base and shortstop and also catches.

Rounding out the roster are Blair Morris, Kaitlyn Dunlap, Laura Griner, Lindsey Griner and Anna Barber.

Morris plays second base, catches and plays in the outfield; Dunlap pitches and plays first base; Laura Griner plays the outfield and catches; Lindsey Griner plays first base and the outfield; and Barber plays the outfield.
