Mr. James Scott Powell, 50, formerly of Bainbridge, died at Berrien County Hospital in Nashville, Ga., on Friday, July 29. Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge, with Rev. Milton Harrison officiating. Mr. Powell was born March 31, 1961 to James Wilson and Betty Lorraine Spraggins Powell. He is survived by his sister, Karen Brooks and husband, Owens, of Nashville; brother, Shane Mercer of Bainbridge; nephew, Jake Brooks; nieces, Kimberly James and Barbara Brooks; and great niece, Meghan Blanchard.

Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, Ga., and Cox-Ware Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
