The funeral service for Kenneth D. Newberry, 80, of Bainbridge, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Max Bryant officiating.

Interment will be at Oak City Cemetery.

Mr. Newberry was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Donalsonville, the son of Jack E. Newberry and Chloe Elizabeth McLendon Newberry. He died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at his residence at Bainbridge Healthcare.

He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1949, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Newberry was the owner and operator of Newberry Service Station for more than 23 years and was the superintendent of the City of Bainbridge Sewage Treatment Facility for more than 18 years.

Survivors include his wife of more than 61 years, Joanne Cloud Newberry; his sons, Keith Newberry and his wife, Carolyn, of Bainbridge, and Dale Newberry and his wife, Annette, of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Keith Newberry Jr. and his wife, Lee Ann, of Athens, Ga., Cara Newberry and her fiancé, Jerry Gerdes, of Lafayette, La., and Kadee Newberry of Augusta, Ga.; his sisters, Valda Ann Babcock of Bainbridge, and Elise Floyd and her husband, Melvin, of Bainbridge.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
