Bearcats junior cornerback and wide receiver Cameron McDowell suffered a dislocated ankle during Thursday’s passing camp and will be probably be out of action for two months.

“We really hate it for Cameron,” Bearcats head coach Ed Pilcher said. “He went up to defend a pass and just came down the wrong way on his ankle. He has been doing a great job for us on offense and defense. He is a fine young man.

“Otherwise I thought everything went well. Everybody worked really hard, Greg Cooper did a good job at defensive back and wide receiver and Dontavious Baulkman defended well. Senior Rodney Glenn also had another good defensive effort.”

Coach Pilcher also praised the pass catching efforts of junior A.J. Miller and senior Rashad Kelly.

The Bearcats will be at camp through Wednesday. They will open the season Friday, August 26 against the Early County High School Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field.

The Bearcats have tentatively scheduled a pre-season scrimmage with the Americus-Sumter County High School Panthers. It will be either Thursday, August 18 or Friday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field.
