Services for Jerry Wayne Baggett Sr., 66, of Whigham, Ga., will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at Union Springs Baptist Church in Whigham with Elder Thad Marshall officiating.

Interment will be in Union Springs Cemetery in Whigham.

Mr. Baggett was born in Cairo, Ga., on March 31, 1945, to the late Norwood William Baggett and Esther Bishop Baggett. He died Monday, July 18, 2011, at his home.

On Nov. 7, 1965, he married Sue Jones Baggett, who survives. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a co-owner of Jones Country Meats in Climax, where he worked hard with other family members to serve their customers. He was an avid fisherman and quail hunter. He was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Baggett was preceded in death by his parents, Norwood and Esther Baggett.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Jones Baggett of Whigham; a daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Charlie Stevens of Wilmington, Del.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne Jr. and GeGe Baggett of Whigham; grandchildren, Madison Stevens of Wilmington, Collier Baggett of Whigham, Jack Stevens of Wilmington, Ridge Baggett of Whigham; mother-in-law, Mildred Perkins Jones of Climax; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eve and Don Meacham of Bainbridge, Randall and Marilyn Jones of Climax, Ethel and Gary Harrison of Katy, Texas, Martha and Jim Moore of Albany, Ga., Jerry and Jill Jones of Climax; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 355 Union Springs Road, Whigham, GA 39897.

The family will receive friends at his home, 326 Union Springs Road, Whigham, on Tuesday, July 19, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of the arrangements.
