Decatur County receives grant

Spring Creek Watershed Partnership/Keep Decatur County Beautiful
Decatur County has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Golden Triangle RC&D and the Spring Creek Watershed Partnership that have been used to purchase granite-aggregate base, a paving material used to resurface dirt roads.
Dirt roads located near bodies of water often present erosion and sedimentation problems. This money comes from a 319(h) grant for the Spring Creek Watershed for use in EPD’s Better Back Roads Program. The project is planned for completion at the end of July. Decatur County will provide “in-kind” services in labor and equipment to complete the work.
The Spring Creek Watershed Partnership encompasses about 555,000 acres in the six-county area it serves in Clay, Calhoun, Early, Miller, Seminole and Decatur counties.
A pilot project, similar improvements are being made in Miller and Seminole counties. There is a good possibility there will be more.
