Edward James Maggio, formerly of Bainbridge, grew these huge watermelons (76.5 and 67.5 pounds) in his garden in Assumption Parish, La. They were pulled from his garden for the Fourth of July weekend. Maggio said he sent the bigger one to his son in Destin, Fla., to be enjoyed on Monday afternoon. An average size watermelon is displayed in front of the pair.
