All City of Bainbridge non-emergency offices will be closed on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, July 5, with normal operating hours.

Due to the holiday, the garbage collection schedule will be pushed back a day. Those residences who regularly scheduled for Monday will have their garbage collected on Tuesday, July 5, while those regularly scheduled for Tuesday will have theirs picked up on Wednesday, July 6.

While offices will be closed, the city will be hosting its annual July 4 Celebration at Earle May Boat Basin Park. The festivities are free and begin at 7:15 p.m. with a performance by 1980s and ‘90s rock band Fly-By Radio. The concert will be followed by southwest Georgia’s largest fireworks display at dark.

The Bainbridge Aquatic Center on Potter Street will be open on Monday with special opening hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Other closings

Decatur County non-emergency offices will be closed on July 4. The U.S. 27 landfill will also be closed.

State and federal government offices will be closed next Monday, as well as the U.S. Postal Service and  local financial institutions.

Bainbridge College will not hold classes on July 4 and all college offices will be closed. The first day of classes for the “B” term of summer semester will begin on Wednesday, July 6.

The Decatur County-Gilbert H. Gragg Library, as well as all the branches of the Southwest Georgia Regional Library system, will be closed on July 4. The libraries will re-open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Bainbridge Post-Searchlight will also be closed on Monday and re-open Tuesday.
