Mark and Sallyann Jorns of Jacksonville, Fla., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Lynn Jorns, to Shannon Mitchell Spooner, also of Jacksonville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. Garner Stroud of Ocala, Fla., and the late Rena Stroud, and of Drs. Jim and Edie Jorns of Manhattan, Kan.

She is a 2005 graduate of Forest High School in Ocala, Fla., and graduated in 2008 from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla., with a bachelor’s in social work. She is employed at Daniel Memorial Inc. of Jacksonville as a prevention specialist.

The groom is the son of Ralph and Betty Sue Spooner, formerly of Bainbridge, now living in Jacksonville. He is the grandson of the late Willie Ward Brady and Katherine Brady and the late James Spooner Jr. and Agnes Spooner.

He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2002 and from Bainbridge College in 2005 with an associate degree in computer information systems, then from Southeastern University in 2008 with a bachelor’s in church ministries. He is employed by Winn-Dixie Inc. in Jacksonville.

The wedding is planned for April 23 at 2 p.m. at Camp Echocktee, Orange Park, Fla. Invitations will be sent and all friends and relatives are invited to attend the wedding and reception.
