Coach Chip Ariail’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats soccer team improved their record to 6-5 with a 3-1 Tuesday night victory over the Albany High School Lady Indians at Centennial Field.

On Friday, they traveled to Leesburg to play a region opponent, the Lee County Lady Trojans. Today, they will take on the Worth County High School Lady Rams from Sylvester at 12 p.m. at Centennial Field.

The Lady Cats struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute when junior midfielder Charlton Reynolds intercepted a pass and hit a 10-yard shot on a breakaway down the middle.

A Lady Indians forward got behind the defense and scored on a breakaway from the left side in the 24th minute, tying the score 1-1 at halftime.

The Lady Cats went back ahead 2-1 when junior midfielder Savannah Cook scored a goal in the 59th minute.

BHS junior defender Tiffany Pearson closed out the night’s scoring with a 12-yard shot in the 63rd minute.

Coach Ariail liked the way his team controlled the ball.

“Overall, we dictated play throughout the game with possession, but we still need to work at a quicker pace,” he said. “Senior defender Candace Perkins had a tremendous game in the back.

“I am still concerned about us finishing in the attacking third. We had many opportunities at the open goal, but I was pleased with the three that crossed the target.

“I hope we can continue to progress as a unit, stay focused with intensity, and work to minimize our mistakes.”
