The funeral service for Steve “Slew Dawg” Singleton, 38, of Climax, Ga., will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, at First United Methodist Church, with the Reverends Stephen L. Webb, Dr. Gerald A. Little, Conrad Salter and Ken Davidson officiating.

Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Vada, Ga. with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6, at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mr. Singleton was born June 26, 1972, in Camilla, Ga. He died Feb. 1, 2011, at his residence. He was a graduate of Pelham High School, Class of 1990, a graduate of Bainbridge College with an associate’s degree in early childhood education, and was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from the Police Academy of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Class of 2002, and was a sergeant with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.

Survivors include his wife, Brittney Kennedy Singleton of Climax; his son, Tanner Creek Singleton of Climax; his daughters, Emily Elizabeth Singleton of Climax, Kaylen Brooke Singleton of Leesburg, Ga., and Kennedy Leigh Singleton of Climax; his mother, June Benefield of Vada; his father, Steve Singleton and his fiancée, Cheryl Moree, of Vada; his sisters, Teresa Wisham and her husband, Kent, of Vada, and Cindy Brock of Vada; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Randall and Nancy Kennedy of Climax; his brother-in-law, Robin Kennedy and his wife, Rebecca, of California; his sister-in-law, Melanie Kennedy of California; seven nieces and nephews; several cousins; and many friends, including his best friend, Brad Lambert.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sergeant Steve Singleton Memorial Fund at Three Rivers Credit Union, 504 West Shotwell St., Bainbridge, Ga. 39819.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
