Baulkman leads BHS against Lee

Devon Baulkman pumped in a game-high 28 points Saturday night in Leesburg to lead the Bainbridge High School Bearcats to a 71-52 Region 1AAAA victory over the Lee County High School Trojans.

The win improved the Bearcats’ season record to 19-2. They are 2-0 in Region 1AAAA play. They’ve won 16 in a row and haven’t lost since Dec. 14.

BHS and Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets will square off in a rematch Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the BHS Gymnasium.

Ronald Crawford joined Baulkman in the Bearcats double-figure scoring column with 10 points. Josh Cabrera had 14 points and five rebounds for the Trojans.

Rodney Glenn had an outstanding rebounding performance, pulling down 14 while scoring 6 points.

In the second half, the Bearcats out-rebounded the Trojans 31-14.

The Bearcats will travel to Newton Saturday for a non-region game with the Baker County High School Bears.

“Beating Thomas County Central Friday night and Lee County Saturday night was big for us,” Bearcats Head Coach Rickey McCullough said Monday morning. “It’s always good to win your first two Region 1AAAA games. Now we just have to keep our focus.”
