Bainbridge High School Bearcats baseball player Blake Voyles was chosen a top baseball prospect in December at the Perfect Game Main Event Showcase at the Boston Red Sox Spring training complex in Fort Myers, Fla.

Voyles was one of over 500 talented underclassmen from across the country who annually show their baseball skills for three days in front of college and professional scouts in Fort Myers.

Voyles listed his first position as catcher when the event started. He was competing against more than 125 catchers who will be in the 2012 and his 2013 graduating classes.

He placed ninth in throwing the ball to second base, doing it in just 2.0 seconds, and second in throwing velocity, with a speed of 79 miles per hour. He also posted a 60 yard dash time of 7.19 seconds, the fastest among the catchers.

He also listed his other positions as third baseman, outfielder and catcher. During the three days, Voyles was able to showcase his talent at all four positions.

Hitting was the focus on the second day as each player, standing in with a wooden bat, was thrown 15 pitches. Voyles was one of only three players who hit the ball out of the park. It was a 350 foot blast over the right field wall.

He also hit several other hard shots to the fence and the opposite field. He caught and played second base in the second scrimmage game.
