Starting left tackle Ray Dominquez of Bainbridge and starting right tackle DeMarcus Love of Lancaster, Texas, are happy that they and their University of Arkansas Razorbacks football teammates were invited to play in a warm weather city bowl game.

They met the Ohio State University Buckeyes in the All State Sugar Bowl last night at the Louisiana Super Dome in New Orleans.

After playing in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, in 2009 and the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn., in 2010, they were ready to play in a warm weather city like New Orleans.

Dominguez, an All-Region 1AAAA tackle under former Bainbridge High School Bearcats head football coach Greg Guy, and Love, who played at Carter High School in Lancaster, talked about their bowl weather preference during a recent interview with Robbie Neiswagner of the Arkansas News Bureau.

“We discussed wanting to make sure we got to a warm weather bowl,” Dominguez said. “When we went to the Cotton Bowl it was cold and Memphis was ridiculous.”

The Razorbacks are playing in a Bowl Championship Series game for the first time in school history.

Love pointed out that the only thing better than a Bowl Championship Series game is a national championship.

“Out of all the Division 1 teams, you only have 10 that are in the Bowl Championship Series,” Love said. “It’a an opportunity and you have got to make the most of it. We want to set the tone for next season, finishing in the top five and leaving our mark on this program.”
