Herman D. Hatton

Funeral services for Herman D. Hatton, 80, of Bainbridge, Ga., were held Thursday, Dec. 16, at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. David Grubbs officiating.

Interment followed at Thursby Cemetery near Reynoldsville, Ga., with Bobby Grubbs, Jackie Grubbs, Marion Grubbs III, Ricky Grubbs, Bobby Grubbs Jr., and Bobby Joe Grubbs III serving as active pallbearers. Orion Lodge 8, F. & A. M served as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Hatton was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Donalsonville, Ga., and died Dec. 14, 2010, at his home. He was a heavy equipment mechanic at Engelhard Corp. for more than 38 years. Mr. Hatton was actively involved in the community as a member of First Church of the Nazarene, the Bainbridge Shrine Club, the Hasan Shrine Temple and was Past Worshipful Master of Orion Lodge 8, F. & A. M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton Hatton and Dahlia Whittaker Hatton Miller; and his brothers, Charles Miller, Jimmy Miller, James Hatton and Allison Miller Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Susan Stewart Hatton of Bainbridge; his sons, Glenn Hatton of Donalsonville and Donald Hatton of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughters, Janie Hatton and Vivian Hatton, both of Bainbridge; his brothers, Phil Hatton of Bainbridge, Rusty Hatton of Donalsonville and Bennie Hatton of Bainbridge; his sister, Betty Decker of Albany, Ga.; and his two granddaughters, Melissa Williamson and Dahlia Hall, both of Bainbridge.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
