Bainbridge High School alumnus Aubrie Provence recently completed a promising freshman season on the Middle Georgia College Lady Warriors’ soccer team.

Provence, who has a scholarship to play forward for the Cochran, Ga., junior college, scored six goals and assisted with six other team goals during this past fall season.

The Lady Warriors finished the season with a 14-6 overall record competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

The Lady Warriors fell to Darton College in a regional semifinal game, by a score of 2-1 decided by extra-time penalty kicks. Darton’s women finished the season ranked number 8 in the nation among NJCAA teams.

Along with the 14 wins, the Lady Warriors also played well against talented tournament foes.

Middle Georgia fell 2-1 in overtime against Tyler (Texas) Junior College, the 2009 NJCAA women’s soccer champion, in Albany, Ga. The Lady Warriors also played strong against Iowa Wesleyan, a four-year college and a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, winning out 1-0 in overtime in Rochester, N.Y.

Middle Georgia also fought hard in two losses against Atlanta’s Georgia Perimeter College, which placed fourth on the final national NJCAA poll.

Provence was a second-team All-Region selection for the BHS Lady Bearcats soccer team in Spring 2010. She also was on the BHS swim team.

She is the daughter of Dan and Bonnie Provence of Bainbridge. Her younger brother, Daniel, is the place kicker for the BHS football team.
