Historic St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 516 E. Broughton St., which has long held a bazaar in late November, has changed the format this year.
It will observe the Festival of St. John the Apostle this Saturday and Sunday with special church services and community events.
The schedule for Saturday begins with a morning prayer service at 8 a.m. with Father Steve Clifton as special guest.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be free children’s activities, a country store, the famous chicken salad sale, baked goods, Thanksgiving pies, clown and face painting, Sparky the Fire Dog, the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and various artisan booths.
A special cold process and hot process soap-making demonstration will be given at 10 a.m. by Johnette Weiss, maker of Flint River Soaps.
Lucretia’s School of Dance will perform at 10, 11 and 12.
Saturday events will conclude with a Eucharist service at 2 p.m. There will be a service of Holy Eucharist on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a covered dish luncheon in the social hall. The community is welcome and invited to participate in all of these events.
