Funeral services for Arthur Dean Wooden, 73, of Smithville, N.C., were held Friday, March 26, in the Young Memorial Chapel at Bruton Mortuary with the Rev. John Henry Wooden officiating.

Interment followed at Pineview Cemetery in Bainbridge with friends of the family serving as active pallbearers.

Born Sept. 23, 1946, in Gretna, Fla., Mr. Wooden died on Saturday, March 20, 2010, in Smithville, N.C.

Mr. Wooden is preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Wooden; and his parents, John Henry and Emma Wooden.

Survivors include his sons, the Rev. Arthur Wooden, the Rev. John Henry Wooden and John Junior Wooden; a daughter, Emma Jane Wooden; five sisters, Shelly Bouie, Perry Sparkman, Lula Wooden, Emma Wooden and Lisa Shavers, and two grandchildren.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
