Funeral services for Lendon “L.B.” Brookins, 79, of Iron City, Ga., will be held Saturday, March 20, at Oakview Church of God in Donalsonville, Ga., at 3 p.m. with the Revs. Mylan Brookins and Johnny Taylor officiating.

Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery with Chris Brookins, Herman Brookins Jr., Tommy Holt, Anthony Brookins, Damon Trawick, Jeffery Trawick, Reggie Trawick and Larry Joiner serving as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born Oct. 22, 1930, in Headland, Ala., Mr. Brookins died on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Brookins served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Herman Brookins Sr., Reuben Brookins and Hiram Brookins; and a sister, Zytel Bush.

Survivors include a brother, Sam Brookins of Donalsonville; three sisters, Wynell Holt, Gwen Joiner and Norma Trawick, all of Iron City; and several nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville is in charge of arrangements.
