A funeral service Mrs. Daisy Lucille White Day, 80, of Bainbridge, will be held Thursday, March 11, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ivey Funeral Home with Brother Tony Haire officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenshade Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the loving and caring men and women of Flint River Hospice.

The family will receive Wednesday, March 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 9, 1929, in Bainbridge, Mrs. Day died on Monday, March 8, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Day was the daughter of Franklin Boyd White and Daisy Lucille Boutwell White. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, co-owned the Franelgo Motel and Restaurant and was the retired co-owner of Flint River Seafood Restaurant with her late husband. She was affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others that she mentored, loved and nurtured through their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas J. Day; her daughter, Zelinda Day Kelly; and siblings Betty L. White, Franklin Boyd White Jr., Herbert L. White and Terrell White.

Survivors include two daughters, Gerraine Day Strickland and her fiancé, Robert Starling, of Bainbridge, and Jackie Day Biletzskov and her husband, Mike, of Darien, Ga.; her two brothers, R.C. White and his wife, Bettye, of Barnesville, Ga., and Doug White and his wife, Joan, of Bainbridge; her three sisters, Shelva Jean Dean and her husband, Floyd, of Bainbridge, Jeanette W. Pittman of Tallahassee, Fla., and Barbara W. Crawley of Bainbridge; her six grandchildren, Robin Goodman Gaddy, Rachel Goodman, John L. Goodman II, Jennifer Strickland Owens, Jessica Rich Cannon and Robert L. Rich, IV; her nine great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Lynn White of Decatur, Ga.; a special caregiver, Margaret Jewell Pulley, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
