A funeral service for Oliver Woodrow Sellers Sr., 92, of Brinson, Ga., will be held Saturday, March 6, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ivey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Harrell and Marion Grubbs officiating.
Interment will follow at Brinson Cemetery with Mr. Sellers’ grandsons serving as active pallbearers.
Born Sept. 12, 1917, in Ashford, Ala., Mr. Sellers died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Bainbridge Health Care.
Mr. Sellers was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II. He was a carpenter and a member of Highway Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as senior deacon for many years. Mr. Sellers and his wife, Edna, were members of Golden Age Singers where they entertained at nursing homes and community centers with gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Edna Waller Sellers, as well as 11 siblings.
Survivors include his two sons, Oliver W. Sellers Jr. of Brinson and David D. Sellers of Climax; his five daughters, Elaine S. Loyd of Iron City, Ga., Martha S. Bryson and Olivia S. McCall, both of Brinson, Dorcas S. Fraser of Cordele, Ga., and Debra S. Lairson of Valiant, Okla.; his sister, Lucy Jane McGuire of Columbus, Ga.; 23 grandchildren 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
