Funeral services for James Aubrey Durden, 91, of Tallassee, Ala., formerly of Attapulgus, were held in the chapel of Jeffcoat Funeral Home with the Rev. Derek Gentle officiating.

Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tallassee.

Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Tallassee, Ala., Mr. Durden died on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in Tallassee.

Mr. Durden served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He had formerly lived in Attapulgus for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Mae Durden.

Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Wadkins, Sallie Morris and Rebecca Mapel; two sons, Jimmy Durden and Marty Durden; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jeffcoat Funeral Home in Tallassee, Ala., was in charge of arrangements.
