Judith Felty

A funeral service for Judith Marie Kelley Felty, 67, of Winston-Salem N.C., was held Feb. 10 at Knollwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.

A private burial ceremony followed in the Knollwood Memorial Garden.

Born on Nov. 8, 1942, in Chattanooga, Tenn., Mrs. Felty died on Feb. 4, 2010, at the Winston-Salem Hospice and Palliative Carecenter.

Mrs. Felty was the child of William Madison Kelley and Billie Jean Miller Kelley. She graduated from Belmont High School in Belmont, N.C., and then received a bachelor’s from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. After college, she moved to Winston-Salem to teach school. She earned her master’s in 1973. She taught at several schools in Winston-Salem, retiring after 20 years. In 1974 she married Bubber Felty. They enjoyed life together for 36 years. She and her husband were members of Knollwood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Hardin Kelley; and her sister, Barbara K. Louis.

Survivors include her husband, H.H. “Bubber” Felty Jr.; her son, Christopher Madison Felty Sr.; her grandson, Christopher Madison Felty Jr.; her sister, Viviane K. Stark; brother-in-law, Fred Louis; sister-in-law, Susan F. Moore; seven nieces, three grand-nephews and two grand-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, people are requested to make donations to The Kidney Foundation, Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem, or Knollwood Baptist Church.
