Jim Spooner

Graveside funeral services for Jim Henry Spooner, 59, of Thomasville, Ga., formerly of Donalsonville, Ga., was held Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Friendship Cemetery with the Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating.

Active casketbearers were Phillip Spooner, Jarod Fulford, Dee Broome, Chason Trawick, Brantley Broome and Justin Henry.

Born April 8, 1950, in Albany, Ga., Mr. Spooner died on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga.

Mr. Spooner was of the Baptist faith. He participated in the Special Olympics in Bainbridge, earning the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics in Colorado during 1976-1978. He attended Decatur-Seminole County Training Center, working there for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Ira Spooner III; and two sisters, Flora Anne Spooner and Elizabeth Annette Spooner.

Survivors include a brother, John Phil Spooner of Destin, Fla.; sister-in-law, Charlotte Roberts of Donalsonville; an aunt, Joanna Holland of Colquitt, Ga.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
