Funeral services for Lucile G. Backey, 67, of Baker County, were held Sunday, Feb. 21, at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Baker County, Ga., with the Rev. Henry Hogan officiating.

Born Feb. 23, 1942, in Baker County, Mrs. Backey died on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Palmyra Medical Center in Albany, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie B. Backey; a daughter, Willa Jean Backey; an adopted son, Derrick Backey; and three sisters, Alice Perry, Bernice Miller and Ruby Hunter.

Survivors include four sons, Frank Sinatra Backey, Charlie B. Backey Jr. and Michael Backey, all of Baker County, and Tim Phillips of Atlanta, Ga.; an adopted son, Eric Backey; a brother, Will Gardner of Tampa, Fla.; a special friend, Lucille Benton; her caretaker, Anita Burke; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
