A memorial service for Wilma J. Cannon, 72, of Athens, Ga., was held Thursday Feb. 11, at Harvest America and Beyond Ministries Church in Bainbridge, Ga.

Born Aug. 13, 1937, in Thomasville, Ga., Mrs. Cannon died on Monday Feb. 8, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospice House following an extended illness.

She was the owner of Alterations Plus in Carrollton for more than 30 years. Mrs. Cannon was a member of the First Christian Church in Carrollton Ga.

Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Lamar Carr; her husband, the Rev. James A. Cannon, and a son, James A. Cannon Jr.

Survivors include her mother, Hilda Carr of Thomasville, Ga.; a son, Glen Cannon of Sandy Springs, Ga.; a daughter, Cecelia Pruitt of Hoschton, Ga.; three grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Lord and Stephens Funeral Home in Athens, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
