David Bonner

Funeral services for David Lee Bonner, 79, of Bainbridge, were held Sunday, Feb. 14, at First African Baptist Church with Dr. A.L. Thompson officiating.

Interment followed in Pineview Cemetery with Gregory Breedlove, George Christian, Thurmal Christian, Robert Jackson, Richard Mason and Harold Williams serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Bonner attended Union Normal School, Hutto Elementary School and Hutto High School. He also attended Albany State College, Alabama State College and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Mr. Bonner taught school in Greensboro, Ala., and Selma, Ala. He also taught at Bainbridge’s former Hutto High School, where he coached the school’s 1965 football team to a region/district championship and also coached basketball. He later taught at Bainbridge High School. He was a member of First African Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Bonner; two daughters, Patricia Headen of Greensboro, N.C., and Kathy Carter of Bainbridge; two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two aunts, an uncle, two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Guyton Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
