Funeral services for Cathy L. Newsome, 54, of Bainbridge, were held Friday, Feb. 12, in the chapel of Ivey Funeral Home with the Rev. Rawleigh Furney officiating.

Interment followed at Calvary Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Bruce Webb, Greg McNair, Len Glover, Johnny Atkinson, Chris Strickland and Bob Sharpton serving as active pallbearers.

Born July 29, 1955, in Bainbridge, Mrs. Newsome died on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Newsome was a paraprofessional for the Decatur County Board of Education, and attended Bainbridge College. Mrs. Newsome was a member of the NRA and a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Shelton Newsome of Bainbridge; two sons, Kirk Tindell of Bainbridge and Robbie Tindell of Thomasville, Ga.; a daughter, Naomi Tindell of Bainbridge; a stepson, Kenneth Newsome of Fort Worth, Texas; a stepdaughter, Shelby Poole of Bainbridge; three brothers, Robert Gilstrap of Roberta, Ga., Edwin Gilstrap and Bobby Gilstrap, both of Bainbridge; a stepbrother, Kerry Bridges of Macon, Ga.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
