Coach Chad Smith’s Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats wrestling team captured the championship at the Lee County Middle School tournament Jan. 14 in Leesburg, wrapping up their season with a perfect 4-0 record.

They defeated the Colquitt County Middle School Packers, the Thomas County Central Middle School Yellow Jackets, the Fitzgerald Middle School Purple Hurricanes and the host Lee County Middle School Trojans.

Smith praised his team for their work ethic throughout the season.

“All the hard work and dedication our young men demonstrated throughout the season paid off for them in Leesburg,” he said. “Wrestlers who went undefeated were Curt Marshall, Mason Birdsong, Ashton Cato, Agipito Estala and Hayden Guy and wrestlers who went 3-1 were Gracin Heard, Collin Ward, Blake Merchant and Hunter Long.”

Smith said the wrestlers really showed their skill and knowledge in Leesburg and he was proud of all of them and the great strides they made during the season.
