Funeral services for Leslie Joey White, 59, of Cairo, Ga., were held Friday, Jan. 15, at Faith Christian Center in Cairo with Pastor Doug McGhee officiating.

Interment was in Harrison Cemetery on Airport Road in Cairo with full military honors.

Born Sept. 11, 1950, in Cairo, Mr. White died at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010.

Mr. White was a driver for Ferrell Gas Company and Quality L.P. Gas Company. He served in the Army National Guard Unit No. 1230 for 27 years, last serving two tours in Iraq with Bravo Company 148. Shortly after his return to the United States, he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He was a member of Barnetts Creek Baptist Church and attended Faith Christian Center.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his father, Waldo Henry White, and a sister, Elizabeth White.

Survivors include his mother, Hazel H. White of Cairo; his wife, Mary Ann Byrd Morrison White of Cairo; two sons, Ray White of Thomasville, Ga., and Paul White of Coolidge, Ga.; two step-sons, Darren Morrison of Cairo and David Morrison of Palm Harbor, Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Maxwell of Whigham, Ga., and Joyce Simmons, of Cairo; two brothers, Walter White and Johnny White, both of Cairo.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo was in charge of arrangements.
