E. Sheffield

Funeral services for E. Marvin Sheffield, 92, of Colquitt, were held Monday, Jan. 11, in the chapel of Sheffield Funeral Home with the Rev. Fletcher Sheffield officiating.
Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery with military honors with Michael Sheffield, Christopher Sheffield, Samuel Sheffield, Joe Manning, Carl Long Jr. and Terry Toole serving as active pallbearers.
Born May 13, 1917, in Miller County, Mr. Sheffield died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
Mr. Sheffield was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of World War II, serving 39 months in the Pacific War Theater, for which he received three commendations for bravery.
Mr. Sheffield owned and operated Sheffield Service Station in Colquitt for 35 years and ran the Sears Catalog Store in Colquitt for 13 years. After retiring, he helped his son at Colquitt Funeral Home as long as his health permitted. He also served as a city councilman.
Mr. Sheffield is survived by two sons, Ernie Sheffield and Danny Sheffield, both of Colquitt; and eight grandchildren and one sister-in-law.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
