Memorial services for Emma Kate Heard, 86, of Bainbridge, were held Saturday, Jan. 2, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in the Cyrene community with Pastor Willie J. Kegler officiating.

Born Nov. 5, 1923, in Decatur County, Mrs. Heard died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Henry James Heard.

Survivors include five daughters, Hattie McClendon, Alice M. Heard and Joyce Heard, all of Bainbridge, and Waver Close and Cora B. Heard, both of Detroit, Mich.; a son, Charles Heard of Bainbridge; a brother, Robert Wright Jr.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Guyton Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
