Ruthann Harper

Funeral services for Ruthann Mixon Harper, 84, of Ocilla, Ga., were held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Arp Baptist Church with the Rev. David Biggers officiating and Adon “Scooter” Clark giving the eulogy.
Interment followed in Arp Cemetery.

Born on Feb. 6, 1925, in Irwin County, Mrs. Harper died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at her residence.

She was a resident of Bainbridge, Ga., from 1949-70. She was a former teacher at Lax School and was the retired owner and operator of Ruthann’s Beauty Shop. Mrs. Harper was a member of Osceola Chapter No. 431 of Order of Eastern Star where she held several offices and a member of Arp Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Julian Mixon.

Mrs. Harper is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas Harper Jr. of Ocilla; a daughter, Annita Clark of Fitzgerald, Ga.; a son, Tommy Harper of Ocilla; a sister, Billie Sue Bagley of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Paulk Funeral Home of Ocilla is in charge of arrangements.
