Two Bainbridge High School Bearcats football players—junior punter and place kicker Keenan Adams and senior defensive back Jonathan Warren—have been named to The Albany Herald’s All-Area football team.

Adams, the first-team punter on both the Georgia Sportswriters and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Class AAAA All-State teams, also excelled as a place kicker. He was chosen the All-Area specialist for his outstanding achievements in the kicking game.

He and Warren were both first-team selections on the Region Coaches All-Region 1AAAA Team. Adams was the All-Region team’s first-team punter and place kicker.

As a punter, Adams led Region 1AAAA with a 39.8 yards per punt average. As a place kicker, his 52-yard field goal against the Cairo High School Syrupmakers broke the school record of 49 set by Stephen McRae against the Northview High School Cougars in 1991.

Warren, a safety, led Region 1AAAA in interceptions with four, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He was also second in the Region in tackles with 125. He blocked four kicks, had three tackles for loss, caused two fumbles and recovered one.

Adams outstanding kicking statistics included connecting on 17 of 19 extra point attempts and 7 of 12 field goal attempts.

Along with his record 52-yarder against Cairo, Adams had two more field goals of beyond 45 yards. He had 36 kickoffs for a 53-yards-per-kick average and seven kickoffs that went for touchbacks. He had a long kickoff of 65 yards.

Adams was one of two Bearcats to make first-team All-Region 1AAAA at two positions. The other was junior cornerback Shawn Samuels, who made first team as a cornerback and kickoff and punt return specialist.

The fastest player on the team, Samuels had two interceptions, four pass breakups, 35 tackles, five tackles for loss and one caused fumble.

Samuels also returned 9 kickoffs for 469 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 29.7 yards a return. He returned 17 punts for 172 yards and a touchdown. He had a 10.1-yards-per-return average. He led the Region in punt returns and was fourth in kickoff returns.

Region 1AAAA players joining Adams and Warren on the All-Area team included junior quarterback Justin Walker, junior wide receiver Sanford Sea and senior offensive lineman Mike Carta of the Lee County High School Trojans.

Also making the All-Area team from Region 1AAAA were senior defensive lineman Keldric Cochran and senior linebacker Sean Stewart of the Americus-Sumter County High School Panthers.
