9th-graders win, JV loses

The Bainbridge High School junior varsity and ninth-grade Bearcats basketball team, coached by Brandon Ingram and Eric Williams, has split their opening two games of the season.

On Nov. 30, the junior varsity dropped a tight 53-46 home game to the Malone, Fla., High School junior varsity Tigers. On Dec. 3, the ninth-grade Bearcats defeated the Thomas County Central High School ninth-grade Yellow Jackets 73-38 at home.

Against Malone, they were led by guard Dontavious Marshall with 20 points. He was followed by guards Justin Baker and B.J. Cheatem with 5 apiece and center Deion Thomas with 2.

In the win over the Yellow Jackets, the Bearcats featured a balanced scoring attack with four men in double figures. Cheatem led the way with 15 points. Lee added 14, Damian Bouie put in 12 and Marshall scored 10.

Also contributing to the Bearcats victory over the Yellow Jackets were A.J. Miller with 6 and Cameron McDowell with 3.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Devontae Walden with 10 and Tyler Tillman with 9. Boderick Pittman and Devan Jones scored 7 apiece for the Yellow Jackets, while Samuel Daniels added 6 and Damien Williams, Ronald McNeil and Chris Dolford all scored 2.
