A memorial service for Johnnie Lee “Body Man” Benton, 63, of Bainbridge, was held Thursday, Dec. 3, in the chapel of Bruton Mortuary with the Rev. Thomas Bell officiating.

Born Aug. 5, 1946, in Miller County, Ga., Mr. Benton died on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Benton attended the public schools of Decatur County and worked as a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Jurine Roberts and Dorothy Belle Ware Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Aretha Gilbert Benton; a son, Aribitton Benton of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Floyd Benton of Bainbridge, Ricky Benton of Atlanta and Johnny B. Benton of Detroit, Mich.; four sisters, Martha Benton of Newark, N.J., JoAnne Anderson and Mildred Ross, both of Bainbridge, and Clementine Benton of Albany, Ga.; three special nieces who were caretakers, Edith Miller, Sharon Miller and Adrienne Belin, all of Bainbridge; a special friend, Ronald Jackson of Atlanta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
