Robert Paris

Funeral services for Robert Lee Paris, 68, of Bainbridge, were held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe L. Sweet officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Mr. Paris’ nephews serving as active pallbearers.

Born June 7, 1941, in Decatur County, Mr. Paris died on Nov. 25, 2009, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.

Mr. Paris attended Mount Tabor M.B. Church as a youth. Later in life, he worked for Rickel Home Centers in New Jersey for more than 10 years. After his health began to fail, he returned to Decatur County to be with family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rasberry “RC” Parris; and two brothers, William Sr. and Joe Parris.

Survivors include his mother, Ruby Parris; his wife, Sandra Paris; four sisters, Julie, Lillie, Acenith and Sharon Parris, all of Bainbridge; six brothers, Bobby Parries of Des Moines, Iowa, Umer Muhammed of Indianapolis, Ind.; Willie C. Parris of Valdosta, Ga., Nelson Parris of Chicago, Ill., Rasberry Parris Jr. of Naples, Fla., and Arthur Parris of Bainbridge; an aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
