The Bainbridge Hardee’s was robbed by armed men early Saturday morning, according to Bainbridge Public Safety.

An employee stated he was walking out to his car, after closing up the restaurant around 12 a.m. Saturday, when a man toting what appeared to be a gun approached.

The robber demanded the employee hand over the restaurant’s bank bag, which contained cash and a cell phone. A witness to the robbery stated he observed two black males run toward the employee, take his bag and then run into some nearby bushes.

The witnesses described the robbers as being black males—one slender, one stocky—and wearing dark clothing, with handkerchiefs over their faces.

Police on lookout for robbery attempts

As local law enforcement and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continue to hunt for suspects in a string of recent armed robberies of Decatur County businesses, officers are watching out closely for any suspicious activity.

BPS Officer Rusty Day did so as he was patrolling Collier Street at around 11:25 p.m. on Monday night. As he approached the area behind Nic’s convenience store, Officer Day observed two black males dressed in all black clothing coming around a fence. When they saw the officer, the two men fled on foot and ran behind some apartments on Troup Street.

BPS Officer Lee Whitehead located two jumpsuits, one red and one camouflage, thrown up against the fence behind 1210 Troup St. Officer Day noted the jumpsuits matched the description of clothing worn by suspects in a possible aborted armed robbery at Nic’s a few days before.

Attapulgus man killed in Florida crash

A 23-year-old Attapulgus man died after crashing his sport utility vehicle on Friday night in Gadsden County, Fla., the Tallahassee Democrat reported on its Web site.

At about 11:45 p.m. Friday, Adam J. Harrison of Attapulgus, Ga., was traveling northbound on State Road 65 about six miles north of Quincy when his 1998 Ford SUV went off the roadway for an unknown reason, stated the Democrat, which based its article on information from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Harrison lost control of the SUV, which struck a tree on the east shoulder and overturned, according to the FHP. Harrison, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.

He was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Clarification

Based on a booking sheet obtained from Bainbridge Public Safety, the police article in the Saturday, Nov. 14, issue of The Post-Searchlight stated Victor Lee, 48, of 803 Poplar Ave., in Bainbridge, as being arrested for a possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a housing project. The charge against Lee was later dropped.
