Two of the four Region 1AAAA football playoff berths are still undecided going into this weekend’s final regular-season games.

The regular-season champion Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jacket, the Bearcats opponent Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field, and the Westside Macon High School Seminoles, who they beat 27-18 last Friday night in Thomas County, are seeded one and two.

A victory over the Yellow Jackets Friday night would assure the Bearcats a playoff berth. The Hardaway High School Golden Hawks of Columbus, Harris County High School Tigers and Jones County High School Greyhounds are still in contention for the third and fourth playoff seeds as well.

If the Bearcats, Hardaway, which hosts Westside Macon Saturday, and Harris County, which plays Americus-Sumter County Friday night in Americus, all win creating a three-way tie at 5-3, Jones County, who hosts the Upson-Lee High School Knights Friday night in Gray, would be eliminated.

Hardaway lost head-to-head to both the Bearcats and Harris County, and the Bearcats beat Harris County head to head.

If two of the three tied teams win, and all currently have identical Region records, the losing team is eliminated along with Jones County.

If the Bearcats and Harris County win and Hardaway loses, the Bearcats will be No. 3, and Harris County will be No. 4 . If the Bearcats and Hardaway win and Harris County loses, the Bearcats will be Bo. 3 and Hardaway will be No. 4. If Harris County and Hardaway win and the Bearcats lose, Harris County will be No. 3 and Hardaway will be No. 4.

If the Bearcats and Jones County win and Harris County and Hardaway lose, the Bearcats would be No. 3 and Harris County would be No. 4 because they defeated Jones County and Hardaway head to head.

Wins by Harris County and Jones County and loses by the Bearcats and Hardaway would create a three-way tie among the Bearcats, Jones County and Hardaway. A tie breaker for fourth place would be played on Monday, Nov. 9, as each team beat and lost to each opponent, and Hardaway would be No. 4.

Hardaway would be third and there would be a similar three-way tie for fourth place among the Bearcats, Harris County and Jones County if Hardaway and Jones County win and the Bearcats and Harris County lose because the remaining teams beat and lost to each opponent.

If the Bearcats, Hardaway and Harris County lose and Jones County wins, Bainbridge would be third and Harris County would be fourth since the Bearcats and Harris County would both have 2-1 records head to head, and Jones County and Hardaway would have 1-2 records.
