Nurses at schools introduced

Nurses at each Decatur County school were hired as employees of the school system this year.

Last year, they were employees of Memorial Hospital, which said it had to cut the school nurse program because of revenue concerns.

The nurses now work 190 days, eight hours a day, and receive all the duties, responsibilities and privileges that all employees receive who are employed by the Decatur County School System, said Linda Lumpkin, assistant superintendent.
