Former Bearcat Malcolm Sheppard, now a defensive lineman for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks’ football team, continues to have a strong senior season and is among the Southeastern Conference’s top defensive players.

Sheppard had a solo tackle, a tackle for a loss and a pass breakup for the Razorbacks in their 47-19 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies this past Saturday. Former Bearcat and offensive tackle Ray Dominguez started the game. The Razorbacks are 2-2, with a conference record of 0-2. They play Auburn on October 10.

According to official NCAA statistics, Sheppard leads the Southeastern Conference in the category of tackles for loss, with four on the season—an average of 1.38 per game. He is tied for 33rd among Division 1 players in the same category. Sheppard is tied for 24th in the SEC in the category of sacks, with one solo sack and one assisted sack.

Former Bearcat Darryl Gamble, now a junior linebacker for the University of Georgia, had one solo tackle and three assisted tackles in the Bulldogs’ 20-13 loss to Louisiana State University. Former Seminole County Indian Bacarri Rambo had a solo tackle, while former Bearcat Nick Williams and former Early County Bobcat Shawn Williams also played in the game. The Bulldogs are now 3-2, with a conference record of 2-1, They play Tennessee next Saturday, Oct. 10.

Former Bearcat Michael Brown, a sophomore running back for Valdosta State University, rushed four times for 21 yards in the Blazers’ 31-13 loss to Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. The Blazers are now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Gulf South Conference. They will play Henderson State University for their homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m.
