Mary Timmons

Memorial services for Mary Brunson Timmons, 99, of Bainbridge, and formerly of Blakely, Ga., will be held at Friday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Blakely, Ga., with Charles Devane officiating.
Interment will follow at Blakely Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Born July 22, 1910, in Early County, Ga., Mrs. Timmons died on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Timmons was a homemaker and graduate of Blakely-Union High School. Mrs. Timmons was a dorm director for several colleges in Georgia, retiring with more than 20 years of service, including Georgia College and State University (formerly Georgia State College for Women) for more than seven years. Mrs. Timmons participated with the Governor’s Honors Program in Macon in 1974 at Wesleyan College and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blakely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Lee Timmons, and her daughter, Betty Timmons Apgar.
Survivors include her son, Jackson Lee “Buddy” Timmons Jr. of Blakely; a daughter, Evelyn T. Knight of Bainbridge; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
