H.J. “Luther” Thomas

Funeral services for Luther Thomas, 76, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Chapel of the Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, Ga., with the Rev. Dorsey Dixon officiating.

Graveside services and interment were held the following day, Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Ga., with Vince Phillips, Ken Hancock, Robert Eidson and Rusty Eidson as active pallbearers.

Born Feb. 13, 1933, in Bainbridge, Ga., Mr. Thomas died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga.

He was of the Baptist faith and retired from General Motors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Thomas, and a brother, Alton Thomas.

He is survived by three daughters, Gloria Eidson of Donalsonville, Ga., Wendy Hancock of Decatur, Ga., and Joyce Thomas of Jackson, Ga.; one son, Joel Thomas of Jackson, Ga.; two sisters, Jeanette Johnson and Patsy Bruner, both of Jakin; one brother, Eugene Thomas of Tyrone, Ga.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
