Funeral services for Mr. Larry Ray Waldrop, 74, of Whigham, Ga., will be held on Friday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at Whigham United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Burrell and Rev. Garth A. Duke-Barton officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Grady County, Ga.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Born May 20, 1935, Mr. Waldrop died on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 in Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.

He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Civil Service as Aviation Electronic Specialist. He was a member of the Whigham United Methodist Church, the Whigham Masonic Lodge, American Legion Post 122, Shrine Club, and the Hasan Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Cleon O. Waldrop, Jr., Thomas W. Waldrop and Robert L. Waldrop; and a sister, Mary Maline Waldrop.

Survivors are his wife, Liz King Waldrop of Whigham; step children, Roger Dean of Moultrie, Ga., Gwen Dozier of Meigs, Ga., Crystal McClelland of Tifton, Ga., and Rodney Dean of Whigham; brother, Donald L. Waldrop Sr. of Whigham; sister, Mary Dot Edmondson of St. Simons Island, Ga.; his former wife, Almeade Maxwell Waldrop of Whigham; and seven grandchildren.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo, Ga., is in charge of funeral arrangements.
